Joseph Bordogna

Joseph BordognaJoseph Bordogna is the Alfred Fitler Moore Professor of Engineering and dean emeritus of the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Pennsylvania, and former deputy director and COO of the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Complementary to his NSF tasks, he was a member of the President’s Management Council and chaired committees in the President’s National Science and Technology Council. He began his post-baccalaureate career as a line officer in the U.S. Navy, followed by work in industry as an engineer.

Bordogna holds a Bachelor of Science and a doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (all in electrical engineering), and honorary doctorate degrees in engineering, science and humanities. During 1998, he served his profession globally as President of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
