Dr. Judith F. Cardenas

Judith F. CardenasDr. Judith F. Cardenas became president of Lansing Community College on January 1, 2007, after serving as interim president since February of 2006. She is the fifth president of the college.

Prior to her presidency, Cardenas served as the dean of student and academic support and quality, beginning in 2003, leading one of the largest divisions of the institution.

She served as vice president of teaching and learning at Mountain View College in Dallas and as the executive assistant to the president and later as the director of corporate and community development at Northwest Vista College in San Antonio. Cardenas also was a tenured assistant professor of biology and served as the chair of the Science and Engineering Department at Palo Alto College in San Antonio.

Cardenas earned a doctorate in education administration from Baylor University and recently earned a doctorate in training and performance improvement from Capella University. She holds two master’s degrees from the University of Incarnate Word and earned her bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s University.

Cardenas is married to Dr. Bernard Rochon, an adjunct faculty member at Lansing Community College. They reside in East Lansing, Michigan.
