Council Internships
Interns are absolutely essential to supporting the Council’s mission and the impact. We are seeking bright, energetic, and enthusiastic students or recent graduates to help address America’s competitiveness challenges. Interns will gain invaluable experience as they become familiar with the inner workings of a non-profit organization/think tank and gain an opportunity to attend meetings with high-level attendees including Chief Executive Officers from U.S. companies and Chancellors of U.S. universities.
The Council on Competitiveness (the Council, www.compete.org; @CompeteNow) is currently seeking interns for the 2013 Fall semester to support a range of Council initiatives:
- Chief Technology Officer - level Technology Leadership & Strategy Initiative;
- American Energy & Manufacturing Competitiveness Partnership – a major clean energy and manufacturing initiative;
- The Competitiveness Index and other global benchmarking efforts;
- International efforts
- Communications and Public Affairs
Due to the Council’s dynamic and entrepreneurial culture, an intern can expect to be exposed to and engaged in other projects as necessary.
Day-to-day responsibilities will include general administrative support, research and writing, maintaining and updating databases, copying, filing, and, most importantly, staffing and preparing for Council events. In-depth knowledge of the internet, various software applications including MS Excel, MS Word is useful.
Required Qualification: An ideal candidate is working toward or has an undergraduate degree, preferably in international relations, public policy, science, or engineering – or for communications internships (journalism, public relations or political science/public affairs). Proficiency in using the internet for research, various software applications including MS Excel and MS Word are required.
Desired Qualification: related professional experience.
