Program Manager

Summary

The Council on Competitiveness has an immediate opening for a Program Manager. The Program Manager will broadly assist in the development and execution of initiatives to promote innovative policy solutions to challenges in the areas of U.S. manufacturing, energy security and sustainability, technology innovation, education and workforce development, infrastructure, and global economic competitiveness. Key Council initiatives in these areas to which this position will contribute include the U.S. Manufacturing Competitiveness Initiative, Technology Leadership and Strategy Initiative, and the American Energy and Manufacturing Competitiveness Partnership. This position will support the Policy Team’s efforts through innovative research and policy development, engagement with Council members, and planning of dialogues, summits and events in the areas listed above, and other projects as they arise. The position will also work closely with the Government Affairs, Media, and Administrative teams, and requires strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills. This position is entry-level, but assumes room for growth, and affords that candidate the opportunity to engage directly with national leaders in government, business, and academia in the implementation of the Council’s events and priorities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, implementation, production, and distribution of Council policy reports.
  • Research legislative issues as they pertain to the Council’s core initiatives and policy areas.
  • Assist in the coordination and planning of meetings and events.
  • Draft charts, tables, and graphs of economic and issue-specific data.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.


Requirements and qualifications:

  • Strong research and oral and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfort working under pressure and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work well within a team, and to work/communicate effectively between teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, economics, business or closely related field required. Some professional experience a plus.
  • Policy experience in manufacturing, energy, and/or technology a plus.
  • Nonprofit, legislative, and think-tank experience a plus.
  • Commitment to/interest in U.S. competitiveness mission and goals.
