Cathy Tripodi

Senior Vice President

Cathy Tripodi is a Senior Vice President at the Council on Competitiveness and is responsible for the Council’s corporate engagement. Cathy oversees the messaging and outreach to current and prospective members including CEOs, university presidents, labor leaders and national laboratory directors.

Cathy brings a wealth of experience to the Council table from fundraising, to government affairs, to policy development; but perhaps most importantly she has consistently demonstrated an ability to develop networks and engage corporate leadership in her work.

Cathy has more than fifteen years of fundraising experience for philanthropic causes and political campaigns including as a fund-raiser for two presidential candidate’s National Finance Committees, numerous Senate, House and Gubernatorial campaigns, Bohemian Grove, Aspen Institute, University of California Regents, the Hoover Institute, Aspen Art Museum, Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club, Aiming Higher, and aspiring and now Olympian Snowboarder, Gretchen Bleiler.

As the director of energy for former Governor Mitch Daniels, (IN) and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, (IEDC) she lead the state’s efforts to attract jobs in energy and automotive  advanced manufacturing sectors and encouraged existing Indiana companies to grow their investments in clean technologies.

Cathy also served as a policy advisor to the chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the secretary of the U. S. Department of Energy, under President George W. Bush, where she researched, analyzed and prepared energy policy recommendations and provided subject matter expertise to stakeholders and industry thought leaders.

Cathy has served as director of policy and government affairs for Kamlet, Shepherd & Reichert and senior advisor to Faegre Baker Daniels in Washington, D.C. She currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis Lugar Center for Renewable Energy.

Cathy has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Villanova University, Philadelphia, PA.
