Cynthia McIntyre
Senior Vice President, Strategic Operations, Planning and Development
Cynthia McIntyre, Ph.D., is the senior vice president for strategic operations, planning and development for the Council on Competitiveness.
Prior to joining the Council, she served as chief of staff to the president, associate vice president for policy and planning, and assistant secretary of the institute at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the nation’s oldest technological research university. In this position, she managed the institutional performance planning process, monitored campuswide progress on the university’s strategic plan, and managed the budget for the Office of the President. Her leadership and oversight of intellectual property, technology transfer and new ventures guided this portfolio to become a successful enterprise for Rensselaer. Additionally, McIntyre co-led the program and architectural design and development of a new research and performance platform, EMPAC, at Rensselaer.
McIntyre is also a member of the Spelman College Board of Trustees, where she serves as a member of the Investment Committee and is the chair of the Audit, Finance and Budget Committee.
McIntyre holds a Bachelor of Science in physics from the University of Texas, Austin; a Master of Arts in physics from Brandeis University; and a doctorate in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
