Michael Bush
Policy Director
Michael is currently a Policy Director at the Council on Competitiveness. He develops content and thematic insights for several of the Council's initiatives including the CTO-level Technology Leadership and Strategy Initiative, the Competitiveness Index - the Council's flagship benchmarking publication, and a major clean energy manufacturing initiative.
In addition to the Council, Michael is working towards a Masters degree in International Science and Technology Policy from the George Washington University. His research interests include U.S. manufacturing competitiveness and human capital development in knowledge economies. Dr. Nicholas Vonortas, Program Director for the Center for International Science & Technology Policy at the George Washington University, recently presented research Michael preformed on the cross section of advanced manufacturing and STEM education at the June 2012, IEEE STEM Enterprise hosted by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
Before returning to academia, Michael worked as a professional engineer consulting on and designing mission critical and traditional fire suppression systems. He has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana and has studied International Economics at Fudan University in Shanghai, China.
