Council on Competitiveness to co-produce the outcome-based dialogues of the 4th Annual Global New Energy Summit

April 9-11, 2012

The Council on Competitiveness and Global New Energy Summit are collaborating to produce the 4th annual Global New Energy Summit to be hosted at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado between April 9th and 11th. This Summit will gather world-renowned leaders from all energy-related disciplines – including science, industry, policy and finance – to discuss the current state of the global energy environment, and to find long-term solutions to meet an ever-increasing global energy demand. Council Senior Vice President Jack McDougle will participate in the Summit as a panel moderator.

At the Summit, panels will debate over the latest progress recorded in innovation, policy, markets, and capital across both areas of energy (renewable and non-renewable). This year will open with an International Exposition highlighting exciting activities taking place in key regions including Asia, Europe, and North America.

In its fourth year, the Global New Energy Summit convenes science, industry, policy, and finance leaders to exchange ideas and build bridges to address burgeoning global energy demands. Committed Summit participants include Denis Hayes, Initial Organizer of Earth Day; Tom Daschle, Former Senate Majority Leader; Greg Leveille, Head of Global Unconventional Resources at ConocoPhillips, and leaders from NREL, LANL, Luca Technologies, ITC Holdings, Colorado Springs Utilities, EPRI, Patton Boggs LLP, Altira Ventures, DLA Piper, Intel, Arsenal Ventures, and Wells Fargo, as well as numerous others.

The Council on Competitiveness was founded in 1986 during a time when the United States was facing its most dire economic challenges since the end of World War II. The country had slid from being the world’s largest creditor to its largest debtor, its position as a global leader in technology and innovation was declining and American industries were losing market share to international competitors. To meet these mounting challenges, two-dozen industrial, university, and labor leaders joined together to found the Council, a forum for elevating national competitiveness to the forefront of national consciousness.
