The 2010 Global Manufacturing Competitiveness Index, jointly produced by Deloitte and the Council, identified talent driven innovation as the most important driver of manufacturing competitiveness. This includes skilled workers, scientists, researchers, engineers, and teachers—who collectively have the capacity to continuously innovate and, simultaneously, improve production efficiency. Worldwide, manufacturing executives and governments consistently view talented people as one of their greatest assets and as having the greatest potential for realizing this winning combination of outcomes. The innovative capacity of a country depends largely on the quality of its human capital and supporting technology and business processes. This forum will examine ways to increase U.S. manufacturing competitive advantage through talent driven innovation.
