America’s Future Prosperity Tied to Energy

The future economic prosperity of the United States is inextricably tied to our ability to create a sustainable and balanced energy system. The private sector is the pivotal actor in achieving energy system transformation with speed and at scale.

The National Energy Summit & International Dialogue will convene an elite group of top corporate CEOs, senior U.S. and global government officials, university presidents, labor union leaders, and other dignitaries for a two-day summit. These key participants will set out specific strategies for meeting U.S. energy and sustainability challenges on day one, and on day two outline private sector principles on climate change just months before the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.

The conference coincides with the publication in Newsweek of a ranking of the top 100 greenest companies in the United States, which recognizes those corporations that are making an effort in their green practices and succeeding.

The Summit is part of the Council on Competitiveness’ Energy Security, Innovation & Sustainability (ESIS) Initiative, founded in 2007. The goal of the Initiative is to enhance U.S. competitiveness and energy security by developing a public-private action agenda to drive private sector demand for sustainable energy solutions and create new markets, industries and jobs.
