Obama Administration Focuses on Council

White House Sees Going Green as Getting Competitive

October 26, 2009

Today, the business and energy blog Smart Planet, observed the Obama Administration's move to rephrase the debate over energy legislation.

Obama's recent speech on clean energy technology signaled a distinct change in approach, "the President talked less about polar bears and more about markets such as lighting, solar panels, batteries and turbines, markets that can be retaken with the right incentives," wrote Dana Blankenhorn.

Blakenhorn also notes that this perspective falls directly in line with the Council's approach to energy transformation. The result is that the White House wants to, "focus on groups like the Council on Competitiveness, which has published a white paper supporting more incentives for new industries and fewer for old ones."
