Council on Competitiveness President Deborah L. Wince-Smith appeared on CNBC last week to discuss the importance of developing a national competitiveness strategy for the U.S. "The rest of the world is moving ahead," Wince-Smith told CNBC's Michelle Caruso-Cabrera on Closing Bell, "while we in the United States are having a lot of trouble reaching consensus."
Wince-Smith highlighted three specific policies that need to be included in a national competitiveness agenda:
- Lowering the corporate tax rate
- Liberalizing trade
- Reducing regulatory costs
