Leading Venture Capitalist Says Entrepreneurs Hold Key to Economic Recovery

Executive Committee Member Tom Baruch Speaks to Council About Job Creation

Tom Baruch, CMEA Capital Council on Competitiveness executive committee member Tom Baruch, founder and managing director of CMEA Capital, spoke to  the Council last week about his vision for a U.S. economic recovery. Baruch said that entreprenuers will be the key to job creation, pointing to a Kauffman Foundation that found nearly all net job creation since 1980 has occurred in firms less than five years old.

According to the leading venture capitalist, the bulk of new growth can be found in an impending energy transformation that Baruch estimates will create $1 Trillion in clean energy opportunities. 

During his presentation to the Council, Baruch also addressed the need for a strong national innovation agenda that would include: 

  • K-12 education in reading, science and math
  • Basic research
  • R&D tax credits
  • Lower corporate taxes
  • Intellectual Property Protection
  • Ambassadors of entrepreneurship
  • Immigration

The Council looks forward to working with Tom Baruch to achieve these policies that will enable the private sector to lead the American econony into a new era of prosperity.
