Council Applauds Executive Order to Review Federal Regulations That Stifle American Businesses
Eliminating Burdensome Regulations Seen As Critical to Attracting Investment and Supporting Innovation

Deborah L. Wince-Smith, President & CEO of the Council on Competitiveness, released the following statement today regarding President Obama’s signing of an executive order instructing federal agencies to review regulations that place unnecessary burdens on American businesses:
“By signing this executive order, President Obama took an important step today toward removing the barriers that prevent growth and job creation in America. The U.S. economy cannot experience a robust and widespread recovery without a regulatory environment that attracts investment, and supports innovation and entrepreneurship.
“Eliminating burdensome regulations is critical for American businesses to both compete for today’s jobs and investments, and to create and harvest the next generation of technologies and industries in the U.S. The Council on Competitiveness is committed to working with the Administration to craft regulatory policies that will ensure American growth and prosperity.”
