Council on Competitiveness Leaders to Discuss Manufacturing’s Role in U.S. Economy at Detroit Economic Club

Deere Chairman and CEO Joins President of RPI and President/Director of Sandia National Laboratories for Analysis of America’s Economic Outlook

DETROIT, MI—

What:
Leading experts in business, academia and science will offer recommendations for creating jobs to boost the sluggish economic recovery, and deliberate the future of American manufacturing, during a panel discussion at the Detroit Economic Club.  

Samuel R. Allen, chief executive officer of Deere & Company – the world’s leading manufacturer of agricultural equipment, Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson, president of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a world renowned research university, and Dr. Paul Hommert, who directs a $2.5 billion budget at Sandia National Laboratory, will participate in the discussion. It will be moderated by Council on Competitiveness president & CEO Deborah Wince-Smith

The panelists will also discuss the results of two new reports released by the Council on Competitiveness, Ignite 1.0 and Ignite 2.0, which reveal the opinions of top CEOs, university presidents, and the directors of America’s national laboratories, about the state of U.S. manufacturing.

Following the panel discussion, participants will be available to the media.
