(Washington, D.C) – The Council on Competitiveness today is pleased that Reps. Randy Hultgren (IL-14), Chaka Fattah (PA-02), Ben Ray Lujan (NM-03) and Alan Nunnelee (MS-01) have formed the House of Representatives Science and National Labs Caucus.

The new Caucus will focus on raising awareness in and out of Congress about the key role that both our national laboratories and science play in the long-term economic growth of our nation.  In addition, the caucus will work to support the federal investment in our national labs.

“The work that is being done in our national labs is critical to increasing both America’s scientific and economic competitiveness,” said Deborah L. Wince-Smith, President & CEO of the Council on Competitiveness.  “Our national laboratories play a key role in solving many of our country’s most important challenges, from energy to the environment; all of which relate directly to our national security.”

She went on to say, “This caucus will be very beneficial to policy makers as they decide on federal investment and the return on the taxpayer’s dollar. We applaud this effort and look forward to working with the caucus in the 113th Congress.”
