Council on Competitiveness Executive Honored for Major Contribution to High Performance Computing (HPC)

(Washington, D.C) – Dr. Cynthia R. McIntyre, Senior Vice President at the Council on Competitiveness , is being honored this week for the HPCwire People to Watch for 2013 based on her leadership and accomplishments in the high performance computing (HPC) industry.  McIntyre  has been instrumental in the development of advanced computing initiatives at the Council, a non-partisan NGO, dedicated to creating public policy recommendations to enhance U.S. competitiveness.

This prestigious HPC recognition is awarded to 12 talented business professionals each year who have significantly impacted the industry within the areas of academia, government or the private sector.  HPCwire is an online news portal that has become a widely recognized and trusted source for all advanced computing-related coverage.

“Cynthia is what I term a ‘visionary leader’, with the unique ability for igniting collaboration amongst diverse interests that enables her to move concepts into reality,” said Tom Tabor, HPCwire CEO and Founder. “Taking into consideration her work building the National Digital Engineering and Manufacturing Consortium (NDEMC), while maintaining a senior role for the Council on Competitiveness and leading the HPC Initiative, Cynthia’s selection this year was unequivocal across the board,” he said.

Dr. McIntyre currently presides over the National Digital Engineering and Manufacturing Consortium (NDEMC), a public-private partnership (PPP) that aims to develop policies to help small enterprises utilize HPC in the private sector to compete in the global marketplace.  Under her guidance, many small and medium-sized manufacturers (SMEs) have seen improvement to their product development process and bottom line sales projections.

“It is an honor to be recognized and supported by my esteemed peers in the HPC community,” said Dr. McIntyre. “This award couldn’t have been possible without the role the Obama Administration has played in enhancing U. S. manufacturers’ competitiveness and  NDEMC’s illustrious partners and collaborators who have been vital to the PPP’s current success,” she said.

The final HPCwire selections are determined by various criteria including a rigorous review process from the publication’s editorial and publishing committees.  Last November, The Council was honored with an HPCwire Award based on its  impactful HPC collaborations in both the entertainment and manufacturing industry.
