Editorial: ORNL helping U.S. manufacturing make comeback, Knoxville News Sentinel, May 2, 2013

The Council on Competitiveness recently convened its first manufacturing dialogue of 2013 at Oakridge National Laboratory (ORNL); the largest dialogue to date—attended by more than 150 top leaders from around the country.

The trip to ORNL also marked the first of nearly a dozen regional dialogues of the National Engineering Forum (NEF) – a movement to create solutions facing the U.S. engineering enterprise.

The Council is honored to work with Oakridge National Lab, which remains focused on reducing the energy intensity of U.S. industry, supporting development of new products, and strengthening our nation’s vitality. ORNL, through its ongoing collaborative relationships with more than 1,000 companies works with U.S. manufacturers to transition technologies that will drive manufacturing innovations in the coming decades.

The above editorial from the Knoxville News Sentinel  is the result of a discussion between ORNL’s Director, Thom Mason and Council Executive Vice President, Chad Evans. “We support ORNL’s efforts to share its research expertise in advanced technologies with companies that are creating the next generation of manufacturing jobs for American workers,” quotes the News Sentinel Editorial Board.
