PR Campaign Launched to Focus Congress on Innovation
Council runs ads in Washington papers
February 28, 2007
The Council on Competitiveness praised Congress for its bipartisan support for innovation with full-page ads in The Hill, Roll Call, Congress Daily and the National Journal. More than 1 million dollars has been raised to run a targeted public relations campaign to keep Congress focused on increasing research funding, improving STEM education and extending R&D tax credit.
Ads of similar nature will appear in Washington papers throughout the year to coincide with the legislative calendar for the House and the Senate.
Council president Deborah L. Wince-Smith; Craig Barrett, Chairman of Intel Corporation; and William Brody, president of Johns Hopkins University, all signed the piece. Barett and Brody are both chairmen of the Innovation Leadership Council—a group of CEOs, university presidents and other private sector leaders to implement a National Innovation Agenda.
