Council Honors Dr. Tony Tether with Founders Award

WASHINGTON—Council on Competitiveness President Deborah L. Wince-Smith presented Dr. Anthony J. “Tony” Tether with the Founders Award at the High Performance Computing Advisory Committee meeting on May 6. This prestigious award recognizes his vision, risk taking and long-term commitment to advancing high performance computing.
Tether, director of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), launched the federal government’s flagship supercomputing program, the High Productivity Computing Systems (HPCS) program, in 2002. The HPCS program is revitalizing research and markets and incubating a new breed of fast, efficient, easier-to-use and affordable machines.
