Council VP Testifies Before Senate on Commerce, Science and Transportation
Science parks play critical role in regional competitiveness
November 12, 2007
WASHINGTON—Today, Randall Kempner, the Council on Competitiveness' vice president for regional innovation, participated in a hearing before the Subcommittee on Science, Technology and Innovation. The hearing explored the impact science parks can have on innovation and competitiveness. Kempner’s testimony highlighted the critical role science parks play in spurring regional economic development and strengthening U.S. competitiveness.
“Science parks can offer general support services and specialized infrastructure that is critical to the work of targeted industry clusters,” Kempner said. “They can serve the critical function of linking scientists, entrepreneurs, capital providers, and managers—and become a network of networks for the region.”
