WASHINGTON—The Council on Competitiveness welcomes Matthew Faraci as the new vice president for communications. Faraci brings a wide variety of experience and enthusiasm to the position and will spearhead a robust effort to highlight the Council’s array of cutting-edge programs.
“We are excited to welcome Matthew to the Council,” said Council President Deborah L. Wince-Smith. “He has worked to promote efforts to keep America competitive, he knows public policy and he is eager to let the American public know more about the Council’s ambitious agenda and innovative ideas.”
Faraci hails most recently from the U.S. Department of Labor, where he served as a spokesperson for U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao in addition to several key Department agencies. Faraci worked to highlight the Secretary’s strong focus on workforce competitiveness, handling press operations for programs such as Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) a ground-breaking new workforce development initiative led by the Department’s Employment and Training Administration. He was also recognized by the Secretary for his service as part of a crisis management team that handled public information operations for the Mine Safety and Health Administration during the 2007 Crandall Canyon mine tragedy outside of Price, Utah.
Faraci has served as a spokesman on Capitol Hill, worked with federal, state and local candidates during several campaign election cycles, spent time in the private sector, and has experience as an award-winning television producer. Faraci is a graduate of Calvin College and lives in Maryland with his wife and toddler. They are expecting a new addition in November.
