President Obama’s CTO, Aneesh Chopra, Engages Top Tech Leaders at Inaugural Technology Leadership-Dialogue
Compete: Technology Initiative to engage leading private and public sector CTOs to craft roadmap for U.S. technology competitiveness

WASHINGTON, DC— The Council on Competitiveness convened the nation’s top public and private sector technology leaders today to kick off Compete: Technology, the Technology Leadership & Strategy Initiative, a bold new initiative focused on improving America’s leadership and competitiveness in technology innovation.
Mr. Aneesh Chopra, America’s first Chief Technology Officer, and the Associate Director of the Technology in the Office of Science and Technology Policy, keynoted today’s launch and committed to engaging with Compete: Technology in a continued dialogue over the coming months and years.
"Mr. Chopra’s involvement today sends a strong signal that the Obama Administration is committed to engaging the private sector in the crucial area of technology," said Deborah L. Wince-Smith, President of the Council on Competitiveness, "this collaborative effort will result in enhanced prosperity for all Americans."
Led by Dr. Ray Johnson, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Lockheed Martin Corporation; and Dr. Mark Little, Senior Vice President and Director of GE Global Research at the General Electric Company, the group of more than two dozen CTOs and national technology leaders will identify strategies to: leverage U.S. innovation assets more effectively; deploy new technologies faster and less expensively; and create a new model of public-private collaboration to address grand challenges facing the United States.
Compete: Technology, the Technology Leadership and Strategy Initiative (TLSI), will hold its second meeting in the fall of 2009.
