Progressive Dialogue III: Demand Drivers for Sustainable Energy Solutions
Published May 2009
While energy suppliers are beginning to make the new investments and implement new approaches to producing and delivering energy, they require a level playing field on subsidies and transparent energy prices, along with well-designed regulations, informed consumers, innovative workforce development partnerships and confidence that responsibility for arresting global climate change will be shared among developed and developing nations alike. Progressive Dialogue III experts identified these and a number of other key factors impacting the ability of energy producers to move forward with regard to energy security and sustainability. This report explores, through the lens of enterprise “suppliers,” the private sector’s role in driving energy system transformation and identifies the enabling conditions that government must provide to support this process.
